Oceanside CA— Oceanside Public Library is pleased to welcome Mark Carlson, award-winning author of the book Confessions of a Guide Dog: The Blonde Leading the Blind. The program will be held at the Mission Branch Library Community Room, 3861 Mission Avenue, Oceanside on Thursday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m.
The author, legally blind from 1998, will tell the remarkable story of how he met his guide dog Musket, and recount their travels and adventures together. Musket has changed lives with his loving personality and inspired other blind people to seek their independence with a guide dog.
“Musket wanted to tell our story. But I wanted to tell the truth. The story is hilarious and heartwarming, sweet and sarcastic, emotional and evocative, compelling and compassionate,” said Carlson.
Mark Carlson is a freelance writer and aviation historian. He has been a contributing writer for several national magazines, and he received an Advanced Communicator Silver Award.
The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library. For more information, please visit library’s website: www.oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call 760-435-5600.
