Oceanside CA— Join the Republican Club of Ocean Hills (RCOH) on Wednesday, August 16th to hear CA Assemblymember Rocky Chávez. Rocky will address the current landscape in Sacramento and is also looking forward to answering member questions. Think about the issues you’d like to discuss with Rocky and have all of your questions ready!
Assemblymember Rocky Chávez began his public service career immediately after graduation from California State University, Chico when he joined the United States Marine Corps. He spent more than 28 years as a United States Marine, rising to the rank of Colonel and being assigned Chief of Staff for the 4th Marine Division. Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, Rocky continued his legacy of public service by founding the School of Business and Technology, a charter High School in the Oceanside Unified School District. He served as the school’s Director from 2002-2008.
In November 2002, Rocky was elected to the Oceanside City Council. During his seven years of service, he focused on economic development, public safety and quality of life issues. In 2009, Rocky was appointed by then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve as Undersecretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs. He later served as Acting Secretary.
Rocky was first elected on November 6, 2012 to represent the 76th Assembly District which includes Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside and Vista. Rocky serves as Vice Chair of the Assembly Education Committee, as well as the Vice Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the following Assembly Committees: Utilities and Energy, Budget, Budget Subcommittee #2 on Education Finance, Higher Education and the Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management.
Rocky and his wife, Mary, live in Oceanside, and have three children and five grandchildren.
The Republican Club of Ocean Hills (RCOH) believes in Republican values: individual responsibility, personal freedoms, limited government, a market economy, low taxes, and a strong national defense. RCOH meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Broken Yolk Café, 2434 Vista Way, Oceanside CA. The Meet and Greet, and the optional lunch purchased individually from the restaurant menu, is from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. The speaker is at 1:15 p.m. There is no charge to attend.
