Oceanside CA— The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Oceanside will host a community kickoff on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 6:00pm at the Tri-City Medical Center Assembly Rooms, 4002 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92056. Everyone is invited to join the festivities and learn about how they can help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer.
The event will Kick-off the 2018 Relay Season. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the 24-hour event, discover ways to participate and/or volunteer and register a team for this year’s Relay event, which will be held on April 28-29, 2018 at Mira Costa College 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside.
The Relay for Life movement is the world’s largest fundraising event to save lives from cancer. Uniting communities across the globe, we celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. During Relay for Life events, members of each team take turns walking or running around the track or path while enjoying all-day entertainment, raffles, silent auctions and other fun activities. Teams participate in fundraising in the months leading up to the event.
“This is our community’s opportunity to help save lives from cancer by taking action to move us closer to a world free from the pain and suffering of cancer. Oceanside Relay has become the #1 Relay in San Diego County having raised $167,334 in 2017 and over $1.4million since the first Relay in 2004” said Tina Ortiz, this year’s Event Lead. “Funds raised from our event help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing cancer, and funds cancer research that will help protect future generations.”
