Oceanside CA— Please join the Oceanside Public Library for Stories Shakespeare Stole, Professional storyteller Marilyn McPhie will share some old tales that inspired William Shakespeare to write his famous plays at the Civic Center Library Foundation Room, 330 North Coast Hwy, Oceanside on Wednesday, May 9, at 1:00 p.m.
Shakespeare borrowed the basic plots, but his plays, the characters, the words and poetry are his own. That is what makes Shakespeare great– not the originality of his plots, but originality of his words. Stories Shakespeare Stole goes back to the older folklore sources of Shakespeare’s plays.
Marilyn McPhie has a degree in English and French literature, and is the President of the Storytellers of San Diego, and a California State Liaison for the National Storytelling Network.
This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library and is open to the public.
For more information on library programs and services, please visit the library’s oceansidepubliclibrary.org or call (760) 435-5600.
