San Diego County CA— The San Diego Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is pleased to announce it is accepting nominations for National Philanthropy Day awards, due June 15th. Nonprofits are invited to submit nominations for the following at www.afpsd.org:
- Outstanding Philanthropist
- Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer
- Outstanding Organizational Volunteer
- Outstanding Grant Making Organization
- Outstanding Philanthropic Business or Corporation
- Outstanding Development Professional
- Outstanding Youth/Student Volunteer
“We are grateful to AFP San Diego for its recognition of our founder, Sister Ann Durst, SHCJ, as an Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer in 2017, as we embark on a larger effort during our 25th Anniversary [October 2018],” said Courtney Brown, Director of Philanthropy at Casa Cornelia Law Center. As a non-profit law firm, Casa Cornelia identifies indigent individuals eligible for relief under the law, but who face barriers to access this right. “Some attendees of National Philanthropy Day might have known of Casa Cornelia’s work, but the recognition definitely helped to elevate the organization’s profile among the many professionals, board members, and philanthropists in attendance.”

By providing a platform for outstanding individuals and organizations, the awards demonstrate the diverse and powerful ways thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. National Philanthropy Day is organized annually by the San Diego Chapter of AFP, a growing network of 400 members in development and related fields, who represent organizations located in San Diego and Imperial Counties. AFP San Diego educates and advances the careers of individuals in development, through continuing education, mentorship, and networking.
The National Philanthropy Day event will be celebrated on Monday, November 5, 2018, at the Golden Pacific Ballroom of the Town & Country Resort in Mission Valley.
