Oceanside CA— Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 4, 2018, 7:30am-4:00pm for the 10th annual Mercato-Farmers Market and Reclaimed Treasures. The Market, 745 Sleeping Indian Road in Oceanside (Enter gate off Las Tunas Road) is a neighborhood event not to be missed for California Avocados and more.
Mercato, Italian for market, will include a Farmers Market selling produce, cut flowers from Mellano & Company, jams, gluten free and vegan baked goods, honey, peanut butter, tea, coffee, and plants from local Oceanside Farmers and Growers. They are planning for five varieties of California Avocados to be sold in the Farmers market; Hass, Lamb Hass, Daily 11, Nabal and Mraz Family Farms Organic Reed Avocados.
The Mercato will offer much more then just California Avocados, there will be Beach House Wines, Gelato from Chef Fabio, who by the way was first to bring Gelato from Italy to the United States, farm animals, artesian jewelry and crafts, skateboarding memorabilia, Tracker-Forty Years of Skateboard History book, with the author Larry Balma to sign your copy, and lots of cool treasure that needs a new home. Come hungry because besides the delicious Gelato there will be lunch, breakfast items and drinks sold in support of the local high school golf team.
There will be information on California Avocados, recipes using avocados and cool avocado stickers and magnets from the California Avocado Commission. the San Diego County Farm Bureau will have information available to those interested about farming in San Diego County and becoming a member of Friends of Farming keeping farming local. With your membership comes benefits like farm tours, free subscription to Edible San Diego magazine, discount admission to the SD County Fair and more .
On display will be the Oceanside AgriVision, which is the vision plan for South Morro Hills. South Morro Hills is a 3500 acre rural farming community located in the northeast corner of Oceanside. Oceanside Agrivision preserves agricultural land, creates vibrant Agritourism experiences, and offers opportunities to live in the county all supporting the Farmers.
