Poet Karla Cordero to Visit Oceanside Library to Celebrate National Poetry Month

Oceanside CA— Please join the Oceanside Public Library to welcome poet Karla Cordero for two special events. On Friday, April 12, at 4:00 p.m., she will facilitate a workshop at the Mission Branch Library at 3861 Mission Blvd. On Saturday, April 27, at 11:00 a.m., she will share her poetry and read from her recent book, How to Pull Apart the Earth, at the Civic Center Library at 330 North Coast Highway. Karla Cordero is a descendant of the Chichimeca people from northern Mexico; and a Chicana poet, educator, and activist; raised along the borderlands of Calexico, CA. Karla teaches creative writing and composition at San Diego City College and MiraCosta College. Her commitment to bridging education and community is demonstrated in her role as the founder of Voice 4 Change: A Spoken Word Showcase, inviting nationally award-winning writers to share their narratives of survival and celebration of diversity. How to Pull Apart the Earth is her first book and is published by Not a Cult publishing.
