San Diego CA— The San Diego Center for Children’s 132^nd Anniversary Celebration, Cherishing the Joys of Childhood, will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Humphreys by the Bay on Shelter Island. Honorary Chairs include Linda and Mel Katz. Funds raised from this event will support the Center’s programs – providing services to children, teens and families struggling with mental, emotional and behavioral health challenges.
This special night under the stars will feature a special concert by internationally renowned pianist and composer, Matt Savage – a savant on the autism spectrum who started his career as a child prodigy. Additionally, guests will enjoy an inspiring performance by the Center’s Children’s Choir, witnessing firsthand how services like music therapy helps youth to cherish the joys of childhood.
The power of expression and music will be woven throughout the night with a special recognition to longtime Music Director, Sundiata Kata, who is celebrating his 50^th year of impact at the Center. Sundiata will be honored as the recipient of the Center’s 2019 PATH Award – a distinguished and annual acknowledgement of Partners in Achieving Transformation and Hope. The PATH Award recognizes supporters and partners to the organization who have made an outstanding impact, celebrating extraordinary contribution and transformative outcomes.
Cocktail hour, dinner, exclusive live auction packages will also be a part of the evening. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and RSVPs are requested by May 1.
