Board Members Support Jacobs Center’s Mission to Build a Thriving Southeastern San Diego

San Diego CA— The Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation has announced a call for applications for two community board members. These positions are open to community members and stakeholders who live, work or otherwise demonstrate investment in and commitment to the Southeastern San Diego community. Throughout their term, community board members will work to advance Jacob Center’s mission of fostering a thriving community envisioned and realized by its residents.
“We are seeking two individuals who are dedicated to and inspired by Jacobs Center’s goal of making the Diamond District a better place to live, work, learn and thrive,” said Norman F. Hapke, Jr., chairman of the Jacobs Center board. “The community board members are essential to elevate the voice of the neighborhood.”
Board members are responsible for engaging in community advocacy on behalf of Jacobs Center, representing the organization at local events and supporting Jacobs Center’s resource development efforts. Community board members will supervise committees to uphold the organization’s vision – to be part of a caring community where people are responsible to each other, where all cultures are embraced, where sustaining resources are in place for a vibrant economy and where residents create the future they envision.
Applicants must have previous experience on a Jacobs Center working team or project, and embody the organization’s core values, including relationships, responsibility and respect. Ideal candidates will have expertise in community engagement, real estate development, finance, law, fundraising, economic development or government relations.
