San Diego CA— Cox Communications awarded a special gift of $50,000 to support the USS Midway Museum’s “No Child Left Ashore Scholarship Fund.” The gift was made following a recent meeting of Cox Enterprises’ Executive Board in recognition of USS Midway’s and Cox Communications’ long-standing relationship which began with Barbara M. Cox’s christening of the USS Midway in 1945 and continues to this day. Barbara Cox was the daughter of the company’s founder James M. Cox and a young Navy widow at the time.
For the past several years, Cox has supported USS Midway’s STEM Education Onboard Field Trip Experience and Virtual Field Trip Program through an annual partnership program. “Cox has a strong commitment to supporting youth, education and the military to help better our community. The Midway and its programs are making an impact in all of those areas, and we’re excited to partner with them in those efforts,” said Sam Attisha, Senior Vice President and Region Manager for Cox Communications, who previously served as a board member of the USS Midway Museum.
