Guests can now purchase a $12 “Nourishing Heroes” meal for a local healthcare worker on the frontlines of the COVID-19 health crisis; Urban Plates will match every meal donated
San Diego CA—Continuing its mission to make healthy, wholesome, clean food available to all, Urban Plates is introducing the “Nourishing Heroes” program, inviting customers to sponsor a $12 meal in support of local healthcare workers. For every meal sponsored, Urban Plates will donate a second meal (up to 1,000 meals matched per week).
“Good nutrition is more important than ever in times of stress. It’s imperative that healthcare staff—who are working tirelessly to keep us safe—are eating healthy meals,” says CEO and Co-Founder Saad Nadhir. “We are leaning into what we do best: providing clean, wholesome meals that are as delicious as they are nutritious.”
HOW: Order online at www.urbanplates.com or place an order by phone to donate. Donations are accepted for Curbside No Contact Pick-Up and Take-Out (not currently available for Door Dash orders).
Nutritionally balanced, individually packaged to-go meals (including proteins like cage-free chicken, grass-fed steak, or vegetarian selections; fresh vegetables; and healthy grains and starches such as quinoa and roasted rosemary potatoes) will be delivered to healthcare workers on the job at their respective facilities. Deliveries will occur weekly, through May 10, 2020.
WHERE: Available at all open Urban Plates locations nationwide. Parties interested in receiving donations for their healthcare facilities may reach out to communications@urbanplates.com.
