Drive-through sites at SDCCU Stadium and Palomar College provide much-needed relief
Feeding San Diego continues partnership with San Diego and Imperial Counties Labor Council
San Diego CA— Feeding San Diego will continue its partnership with the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council on two emergency drive through food distribution sites, one serving central San Diego at SDCCU Stadium in Mission Valley and the other serving North County at Palomar College in San Marcos. These two emergency distributions have served nearly 10,000 people to-date. Running through the month of August, these sites will continue to provide regular assistance to the vast number of San Diegans facing hunger. Both sites will serve the first 600 vehicles.
At these drive-through distributions, volunteers place food directly in the trunk, always keeping six feet of distance. Groceries include fresh produce, canned goods, and shelf-stable nutritious foods. Feeding San Diego supplies the food and the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council provides the volunteers.
The distribution at SDCCU Stadium will be held on August 8 and August 22 at 9 a.m. SDCCU Stadium is located at 9449 Friars Road, San Diego, CA 92108. The Palomar College distribution will occur on August 15 and August 29 at 9 a.m. at Lot 12 at 1140 W. Mission Road, San Marcos, CA 92069.
“We are grateful for our partnership with San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council and shared commitment to fighting hunger during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Gavon Morris, Chief Development & Marketing Officer of Feeding San Diego. “These emergency distributions, which started in March, have provided a lifeline to thousands of San Diegans who are facing hunger, many of whom are accessing food assistance for the first time.”
