Garden to Table Dining Experiences Offer New Twist on Fundraising

Unique Stay at Home Dining Experiences benefit San Diego Botanic Garden and Three Local Eateries

Encinitas CA—This year, San Diego Botanic Garden has put a whole new spin on its annual fall fundraising event. Since the annual Gala in the Garden cannot be held inside the 37-acre urban oasis this year due to the pandemic, the Garden is bringing some fresh flavors – with the help of some incredible local chefs – to anyone who would like to support not only the Garden, but also three local eateries!
The Garden has partnered with three local companies – MIHO Catering, Cardiff Seaside Market and Vigilucci’s – to create gourmet garden to table dining experiences that can be enjoyed safely in your own home.
Thursdays and Fridays from September 10 – October 16, these three San Diego-based eateries will be cooking up three course meals – including entrée, main course and dessert – that can either be picked up or delivered. Supporters can choose from eight different fixed menus each week – that include dairy-free, gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan options.
“San Diego Botanic Garden is thrilled to partner with our area’s finest chefs to bring the Garden – in edible form – to you. In these hard times, it was important to design a fundraiser to benefit the Garden and the businesses working so hard to thrive through these challenging times,” said SDBG President & CEO Ari Novy, PhD. “We’re all in this together and we’re excited to serve the community by serving dinner.”
These delicious dinners cost $125 prix fixe/per person and benefit not only San Diego Botanic Garden, but also the local eatery providing the meal(s) ordered. To view menus and place an order, please visit SDBGarden.org/garden-to-table.htm. Meals must be ordered one week in advance of date of desired delivery/pick up.
Supporters who wish to donate to the Garden directly without purchasing a meal are invited to contribute to the Garden’s Resiliency Bridge Fund at SDBGarden.org/donate-general.htm. All donations to this Fund, created to help to sustain Garden operations during the ongoing pandemic, will be matched dollar for dollar (up to $100,000) through a challenge grant issued by philanthropists Carol and Martin Dickinson.
The mission of San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas is to ‘inspire people of all ages to connect with plants and nature.’ The Garden is open Wednesday – Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm. Masks are required for entry and visitors must put them on when within six feet of other guests outside of their group of family or friends. Reservations to visit the Garden can be made at SDBGarden.org.
