San Diego CA— The VAPA Foundation will hold an Art Supplies Drive Drive-Thru event to support the needs of students of the San Diego Unified School District’s Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Department. On Saturday, October 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the VAPA Foundation is encouraging the community to stop by Madison High School (4833 Doliva Dr., San Diego, CA 92117) and donate various art supplies to help support San Diego students while they learn and create from home.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on the needs of our youth, placing many art programs in jeopardy,” said Doreen Schonbrun, President of The VAPA Foundation. “It is so important that we are able to provide our young artists with the supplies they need to develop and grow their artistic abilities.”
The VAPA Foundation is dedicated to ensuring all students (TK – 12) have access to the art supplies they need to complete visual art class assignments and to help provide a creative outlet during these isolating times. Parents and children are all encouraged to join school staff and the VAPA Foundation at the donation location. There will be an art wall that students can add their artwork too! Social distancing policies, however, will be enforced, meaning people must remain in their vehicles with the sole exception of dropping off art works and supplies. Everyone will need to stand six feet apart, and all donated items must be in new and original packaging.
