Opportunity to be a Youth Ambassador or Cultural Performer at Upcoming World Fair
San Diego CA— Expo 2020 Dubai, slated to run from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, will be the first World’s Fair to be held in the Middle East. Through 192 countries hosting pavilions, Expo 2020 Dubai will be a celebration of creativity, innovation, humanity and world cultures. The San Diego Diplomacy Council is thrilled to partner with Global Ties U.S. and the U.S. Department of State to help identify applicants to represent not only the United States but San Diego at the U.S. Pavilion. The U.S. Pavilion will engage visitors from all over the world to learn more about the United States and the freedom that enables success and innovation.
Global Ties U.S. is actively seeking U.S. citizens ages 18-29 to serve as Youth Ambassadors at the U.S. Pavilion. Youth Ambassadors will serve as guides and cultural representatives of the United States and its territories to millions of Expo visitors. They will also assist in organizing and executing events at the U.S. Pavilion. Youth Ambassadors can expect to have daily encounters with international visitors who may speak one or several languages. The ideal Youth Ambassador is multilingual in English and one of the following languages: Arabic, Mandarin, Farsi, Hindi, Russian or Urdu. Additional language skills in Bengali, French or Spanish may also be useful. Youth Ambassadors will be divided into three cohorts: Fall 2021 (September-January), Spring 2022 (January-April) or “Full-Term” (September 2021-April 2022). Global Ties U.S. is also seeking local talent to perform at the U.S. Pavilion. Cultural Performers serve as representatives of the United States and its territories, and will provide entertainment to millions of Expo visitors. Performers will be selected across a variety of disciplines to reflect the rich diversity of the U.S. and its culture. Performers are expected to be in Dubai for approximately 5 to 7 days and are required to participate in a minimum of four performances.
