Oceanside CA— Well-known North County philanthropist, Jefferey Olsen, donated nearly 500 pounds of canned vegetables to The Salvation Army food pantry in Oceanside, on Thursday. This is the third time Olsen has donated food this year. He donated in May and again July.
The Oceanside food pantry feeds more than 300 people a week including home-bound seniors. The need for food has increased more than 85% since the beginning of the pandemic as many are out of work.
“We are so grateful for this help to feed our neighbors.” Says Captain Liane Newcomb.
The Oceanside Corps is open for free food distribution every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Those who attend get boxes of healthy food, including fresh fruit and vegetables. The Corps also feeds more than 100 seniors every day with a grab & go meal made fresh in the onsite kitchen.
