Carlsbad CA— In recognition of the many local women who have given their time and effort to make a difference for their North County neighbors, Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath is calling for community nominations for the 2021Women of Impact Awards. In the spirit of Women’s History Month, the 76th Assembly District will host a virtual ceremony later in March celebrating the accomplishments of ten awardees to be selected from the pool of nominations.
“This pandemic has impacted our families, our friends, and our entire North County community in so many ways – making existing problems worse and creating new areas of need,” said Assemblymember Boerner Horvath. “In response to all of this, we’ve seen community heroes – so many of them women – who have been stepping up, leading, and improving the lives of those around them through hard work and dedicated service. It’s important that we shed a light on these women so that their contributions are recognized.”
To thank and honor these women for their recent or lifelong contributions to North County, the Assemblymember’s office is collecting nominations for each of the following categories: Activism/Advocacy, Arts & Culture, Civic Engagement, Community Service, Education, Business/ Entrepreneurship, Health & Human Services, STEM, Veterans & Active Duty Military, and Young Leaders. An individual will be selected for each of the categories to become one of the ten 2021 Women of Impact honorees.
Nominees must reside or work in the 76th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, Camp Pendleton, and some surrounding unincorporated areas. Nominations will be accepted until Monday, March 8th at 11:59pm.
