San Diego CA—
Anvil of Hope invites community members across San Diego County looking to support small businesses and restaurants, who continue to suffer from COVID-19’s economic impacts, to participate in its inaugural 30-day Walk for Hope celebration. In honor of Anvil of Hope’s one-year anniversary, this month-long event serves to encourage patronage of local businesses and restaurants, especially those owned by people of color, within their neighborhoods in an effort to raise funds for back-to-school clothes for deserving children.
How to Particiate
Once registered, participants, or “Hope Walkers,” will earn entry into the Opportunity Drawing which will offer a variety of prizes – AleSmith merchandise, gift certificates, Padres gear and more – during an Awards Ceremony held at AleSmith Brewing Company on April 24. Hope Walkers can earn additional entries to the Opportunity Drawing for every post they make to social media demonstrating their support at any small business or restaurant by using the hashtag #WalkforHopeSD. Purchases are not required to receive points; however, requirements do include a photo of the business and the hashtag #WalkforHopeSD. Hope Walkers have the option to create their own fundraising page or a team page at the following URL: Become a Fundraiser.
In addition, Walk for Hope will specifically aim to uplift businesses and restaurants owned by people of color by providing participants access to downloadable digital maps and logos of these businesses on Anvil of Hope’s website.
San Diegans were hit hard by the pandemic, including families who found themselves unable to provide for their children without steady income, or local, small business owners who had to shut their doors. Anvil of Hope views the San Diego community as a family – and when someone in the family needs help, everyone rallies in support.
Walk for Hope is Anvil of Hope’s initiative to galvanize others into action in a way that supports local business and gives back to children in need. These include deserving youth who are aging out of foster care and who lack resources or support to access future life opportunities. Rooted in Anvil of Hope’s overarching mission to enable people to thrive with independence, Walk for Hope will provide the community at large with brighter possibilities.
