San Diego CA— The San Diego Rescue Mission will be holding its Easter Community Meal on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the San Diego Rescue Mission (120 Elm Street, San Diego 92101). This year, the Rescue Mission will also be opening up invitation to those who are low-income or are in need this season, in addition to those experiencing homelessness.
This year’s meal will include pork tenderloin, scalloped potatoes, broccoli florets, and a dinner roll topped off with cake for dessert. There will also be Easter baskets for children, as well as giveaways of essential items, prayer, and encouragement in a warm and genuine environment. A team of healthcare professionals will also be on site for those in need of medical attention.
The San Diego Rescue Mission will celebrate Easter and the hope of the Risen Christ with San Diegans who are low income or experiencing homelessness from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021. This year’s meal will include a hot “to go” meal of pork tenderloin, scalloped potatoes, broccoli florets, and a dinner roll topped off with cake for dessert. There will be Easter baskets for children with candy and Easter items. The Rescue Mission will also be providing giveaways of essential items, prayer, and encouragement in a warm and genuine environment. A team of healthcare professionals will also be on site for those in need of medical attention.
“This is more than just another community meal. It’s an opportunity to invite our nearby neighbors and celebrate the real meaning of Easter with those in need,” said Donnie Dee, President/CEO of San Diego Rescue Mission.
Free parking during the event is available in the San Diego Rescue Mission parking lot at 1840 First Avenue downtown.
The atmosphere for this Easter Meal will be peaceful and joyous, so everyone who attends can feel seen, heard, and loved as God sees them. The Rescue Mission’s goal is for every participant to leave with a greater awareness of the Rescue Mission and how lives are changed through its programs.
The San Diego Rescue Mission will be following COVID-19 safety requirements and will ensure social distancing among participants. Sidewalks will be pre-marked with 6 feet requirements for those waiting in line and masks will be distributed to those who do not have one. In order to follow current state guidelines, the Rescue Mission will only be distributing meals “to go” this year and there will be no seating.
Founded in 1955, San Diego Rescue Mission is a faith-based organization that offers safe haven as well as rehabilitation services to those experiencing homelessness, addiction, abuse or poverty in our community. San Diego Rescue Mission offers a wide range of onsite programs and services through its Nueva Vida Haven Emergency Shelter, Partners for Hunger Relief, Residential Program, and a Children’s Center Preschool. San Diego Rescue Mission also owns and operates several thrift stores in the San Diego area.
