San Diego CA— Promises2Kids will hold a free virtual San Diego Foster Care Education Summit, “Improving the Educational Outcomes for Foster Youth in a Virtual World,” on Wednesday, April 7, and Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on both days. Summit guests will learn from foster youth, educators, caregivers, and community members, who will be sharing their experiences of navigating through the education system during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Virtual workshops will also discuss the impact COVID-19 has had on foster youth and their education, creating engaging virtual lesson plans, how you can improve foster youth education, and much more.
Track 1 for teachers, administrators, social workers, and CASAs include how to engage in a virtual classroom, trauma-informed teaching, and creating a safe space to talk about race and inequality.
Track 2 for caregivers, CASAs, and volunteers will discuss balancing parenting and in-home education for your child, and advocacy and IEPs from the parent perspective.
