San Diego CA—To kick-off the 2021 virtual Red Shoe Day fundraiser, Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego is honoring Owen Abrams and his remarkable progress with “Celebrate Owen Day” on May 6 featuring dollar for dollar donation matching up to $6,000.
When Owen Abrams was born prematurely, his parents – Darlene and Nick – relied heavily on the Ronald McDonald House to give them a place to sleep, eat, work and receive emotional supporting during Owen’s extended stay in the hospital. Owen fought for nearly two years before he was strong enough to go home and now is a thriving six-year-old and proud big brother.

“Our Red Shoe Day is about finding a reason to celebrate and share gratitude with the San Diego community for their continued support of our House and the families we serve,” said Chuck Day, president and CEO of San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. “While we won’t be raising money at intersections throughout the county, this month long virtual fundraiser will highlight our generous donors, selfless volunteers and inspiring families, who truly make our House a home.”
In addition to the virtual Red Shoe Day fundraiser, San Diegans will once again be able to add a $1, $2, or $3 donation to their favorite McDonald’s order at participating locations May 4 to
