Oceanside CA— The Active Lifestyles/Senior Expo will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Civic Center Plaza, 300 North Coast Highway, in downtown Oceanside. This annual event is presented by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and Kaiser Permanente and sponsored by Tri-City Medical Center and FrontwaveCredit Union.
The Active Lifestyles Expo will feature health-related businesses, non-profits and senior organizations. In addition, a variety of free health-related screenings, giveaways and consultations will be featured throughout the event. Attendees can also enjoy the Farmers Market which will be situated adjacent to this event.
Also included at this popular event, will be the recognition of the Oceanside Senior Volunteer of the Year by the City of Oceanside at 12 noon. Our Senior Volunteers make Oceanside a better place
to live! This year Shirley Thralls will receive this recognition and award. She is a long-time senior volunteer who, during the COVID “stay home health order”, volunteered her time to reach out to
1,500 seniors, performing “welfare checks,” handling telephone call at both senior centers, contacting seniors who applied for the San Diego Senior Community Foundation “Leave No Senior
Alone” Grant, conducted numerous first time drop-in visitors tours of the senior centers. After being fully vaccinated, Shirley commenced volunteering in September of 2020, working diligently
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to serve local seniors.
The Senior Expo is FREE to the public and a great way to receive information, meet a new health specialist, enjoy free screenings and learn more about a healthy and active lifestyle.
