This is not a pretty picture folks. O’side is described as being 34.0% unemployed in this report. That is far in excess of Great Depression 1930’s levels and the nationwide averages of that time. AND IT HAS FURTHER INCREASED SINCE THE MAY 09 DATE OF REFERENCE ON THE CHART IN THIS REPORT. Open the web attachment at the bottom of the page.
We are in deep weeds, this will not be a presto/change-o fast paced economic rebound, I am sorry to say.
It begs the question……..What is the City Council’s long term plan to save the people of O’side from even worse conditions than already experienced by “We the Innocents”, “We the People”, “We the Taxpayers”.
Have they formed a one on one personal counseling service for the 7,407 citizens of O’side which this report claims were out of work on May 09? Is there a one on one support service for the many small business owners now struggling to survive?
I don’t know of any such high intensity, case by case, city worker support services to provide real one on one, practical useful assistance and advice, do you?
All I have seen to date is posturing and pandering for “points” by our city leaders. Demonstrations of poor leadership by Christopher Rodriguez, the District 2 City Council Member advocating for Civil Disobedience as he declares to “take a stand”, the mayor Peter Weiss disavowing Rodriguez “stand”, the Police Chief disavowing Rodriguez “stand”, the Fire Department catching public flak for some kind of supposed under the table City Council candidate for District 4 support, and their support for the lousy NRF plan to ruin the farmlands with a rezoning deal.
A deal which will support a “here for profit” Developer, one who will wave bye bye and “seeya wouldn’t want to beya” as they ride off to the bank with their profits from ruining our farmlands area, Morro Hills.
The rezoning approval by the City Council Majority Vote of Weiss, Feller and Rodriguez for the Morro Hills land in question has been forced onto the November ballot by a citizen’s ballot petition drive.
Vote in favor of not changing the Morro Hills zoning in any way if you love fresh air and don’t want to see even worse traffic in the City.
Vote Weiss and Feller out of office in November, for they approved this bad deal. Renew the effort to recall Rodriguez out of office ASAP, for he approved this deal.
A DAY OF RECKONING IS COMING SOON
This is not a good scene……….A Day of Reckoning must come in November to get a majority of folks into that City Council office who really care, and who can get things done right in our city. People who do not just want to get things done for a profit in our city
BE VERY THOUGHTFUL OF WHO AND WHAT YOU VOTE FOR IN NOVEMBER MY FRIENDS. WE ARE NOT BEING WELL SERVED BY THE CURRENT CITY ADMINISTRATION IN MY NOT SO HUMBLE OPINION !
