Carlsbad CA— Join the American Heart Association today, Wednesday, April 5, at the Tri-City Wellness Center in Carlsbad to celebrate National Walking Day. The North County celebration includes a wellness walk around the Wellness Center, followed by complimentary health screenings, AED/CPR demonstrations, entertainment, and free Subway sandwiches/wraps. The celebration expo begins at 11:00AM, while the walk begins at 12 noon at the Tri-City Wellness Center, 6250 El Camino Real, Carlsbad.
The National Walking Day celebration is free and open to the public.
The American Heart Association, along with local Life is Why sponsor Tri-City Medical, wants everyone at the National Walking Day wellness event, both employers and employees, to commit to living a healthier lifestyle by choosing to walk more, eat well and live longer.
A number of San Diego companies are taking part in the North County National Walking Day Celebration at Tri-City Wellness Center, while others will be celebrating at their home offices.
Studies have suggested that moderate physical activity has many proven benefits for overall health, such as lowering blood pressure, increasing HDL, or “good”, cholesterol and controlling weight. All these changes help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers.
