Getting to the heart of the matter: Precision therapies for age-related neurodegenerative diseases
La Jolla CA— Scripps Research is hosting a virtual Front Row Lecture on September 15, 2021.
As scientists unravel the ways that genetic inheritance and aging influence the function of a person’s cells, tissues and organs, they are also finding new ways to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases. In his Front Row lecture, Scripps Research professor Jeff Kelly will share his research into a broad set of disorders where aberrantly folded proteins lead to degeneration of the heart and/or nervous system. He’ll explain how his research led to the first regulatory agency-approved therapy for these so-called amyloid diseases and how he and his team are developing future precision therapies for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
