Oceanside CA– In Spring 2015, MiraCosta College will offer new certificates in project management and construction management.
Students interested in pursuing a career or gaining valuable skills in project management and construction management will need to take BUS 133 Project Management, which is a required course for both certificates and meets the Area E General Education requirements for an associate degree at MiraCosta College.
“Whether you are planning a wedding or a multimillion dollar infrastructure upgrade, project management knowledge and tools are critical for project success,” design drafting technology instructor, Paul Clarke said. “The project management certificates and courses at MiraCosta College prepare students for entry-level positions, professional certification, advanced study, and personal and professional success.”
The industry advisory board members in the design and business departments have long seen the importance of project management skills for students. Almost a decade ago, advisory board members in the design department suggested project management course work for students entering the architecture, engineering, and construction fields.
One board member, Lance Nordbak from CRB Builders in Carlsbad, recently hired design graduate Trucker Creighton as a Project Engineer and he is looking to hire two more students.
The new curriculum is being offered just in time to meet the growing needs of CRB Builders and other local companies.
For more information about the certificates, please contact design drafting technology instructor, Paul Clarke at pclarke@miracosta.edu or call 760.757.2121 x. 6405. For information regarding our design program, please go to www.miracosta.edu/design.
