Oceanside Students Part of Global World Water Monitoring Challenge

Oceanside CA— Students and Teachers from Oceanside will be part of the global World Water Monitoring Challenge. San Diego Coastkeeper will host more than 100 bi-national students for its 12th Annual World Water Monitoring Day at Birch Aquarium at Scripps on November 7. Students from Tijuana, Mexico, join the Oceanside students for a visit to Birch Aquarium at Scripps to learn about water quality as they rotate through seven interactive, hands-on stations.
World Water Monitoring Day gives students a chance to explore water quality issues in their communities and gives those issues a global perspective. Students will leave with a basic understanding of how they have an impact—both positive and negative–on the health of our waterways and how pollution travels through our communities and reaches the ocean.
The tour is Friday, November 7, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, 2300 Expedition Way, La Jolla.
The students will be joined by; San Diego Coastkeeper, San Diego County Office of Education’s Splash Lab and Green Machine and The Energy Coalition’s PEAK program.
