San Diego County CA— The Resource Conservation District (RCD) of Greater San Diego County is organizing a series of three, no-cost workshops to assist educators and parents who are involved in running a school garden.
The two-hour workshops are all held after school and are open to anyone who wants to learn more about how to create, manage or expand a school garden. Topics include creating pollinator gardens, engaging volunteers, and encouraging healthy eating.
- April 15, 3:30 – 5:30 pm: “How to Create a Pollinator Garden,” at Palomar Elementary (Chula Vista). Learn plant selection tips from a Master Gardener, and experience a hands-on planting session with Butterfly Farms.
- May 14, 3:30 – 5:30 pm: “Engaging Volunteers in Your School Garden,” at Miramar Ranch Elementary (Scripps Ranch). Hear about the school’s parent volunteer force and how they work with students in the garden.
- May 28, 4:00 – 6:00 pm: “Eating from the Garden,” at Birney Elementary School (San Diego). Learn fun ways of encouraging healthy eating through gardening with Mindy from Dig Down Deep.
