Oceanside CA— MiraCosta College associate music technology instructor Steven Traugh has just released three new albums of original music for young children. Together they comprise a total of 41 songs that are fun and educational for pre-K and kindergarten children, and thus of interest to parents and teachers as well.
“I am proud of the fact that the musical arrangements have a high production value and represent a wide range of styles – jazz, classical, reggae, African, salsa, country, bluegrass, Cajun and more,” said Traugh.
Traugh’s wide-ranging activities are hard to keep up with. In recent months he has premiered and performed a piece with the MiraCosta College Orchestra; composed and recorded music in various popular, children’s, and world music idioms; and facilitated a large-scale collaborative project in which MiraCosta students and Oceanside fifth graders from five elementary schools used music to explore careers. And he manages to fit in all these activities in addition to teaching music full-time in Oceanside schools and part-time for MiraCosta College.
“Steven’s outstanding commitment to music education at all levels is exceptional,” said MiraCosta’s Dean of Arts & International Languages Jonathan Fohrman. “He is a great role model for students interested in pursuing a career in education, and is a real asset to MiraCosta.”
