Oceanside CA— MiraCosta College alumnus Chris Barter and the MiraCosta College Foundation have helped secure a $10,000 grant from the Datron World Communications, Inc. to purchase new textbooks for the Oceanside and San Elijo Campus libraries.
“All the additional textbooks we’ve acquired through this grant will thoroughly enhance student learning at MiraCosta College,” said Michelle Ohnstad, library operations coordinator. “This program will especially help those students who are struggling to afford textbooks.”
The textbooks will be used for numerous courses such as economics, biology, chemistry and history. All textbooks are available for use at both the Oceanside and San Elijo Campus libraries and are expected to circulate about 8,500 times per year.
“Students have expressed their delight that we have the newest required editions of these textbooks,” said Ohnstad. “What we have available right now is just the start—more textbooks are on the way.”
