Oceanside CA— Contemporary film composer and recording artist Jeff Rona will present a lecture about his career in the music industry when he comes to MiraCosta College on April 27. This lecture/demonstration will be held at 5:30 p.m. in Room 2218 at the college’s Oceanside Campus, located 1 Barnard Dr. The event is free and open to the public.
Aside from a successful career as a studio musician, Rona has scored dozens of film and television projects with directors Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, Robert Altman, Jonathan Demme and many others. He has scored several video games, and has been a key figure in the development of musical software and new instrument design, and was a leader in making MIDI a groundbreaking worldwide phenomenon.
“I personally am very excited that the Music Department is hosting a current, industry luminary to provide direct service to our demographic and community,” says Christy Coobatis, MiraCosta music instructor.
In his appearance at MiraCosta, Rona will share stories about the music industry, his career as a professional composer, and his vast experience in the industry, which will provide valuable insight to anyone seeking to enter the field. Rona will use examples of his music to explain his approach to music composition, and using state-of-the-art technology as part of an audio creation team for film, TV and games.
