Oceanside CA— The Oceanside High School Health Academy earned the prestigious title of a 2017 Distinguished Academy. Out of 409 California Partnership Academies, the OHS Academy was one of 16 across the state to earn a visit from the California Department of Education. On February 9, OHS was informed the program was a 2017 California Partnership Academies Distinguished Academy.
OHS is one of only 14 schools statewide warranting inclusion in this inaugural class of honorees. An incredible group of teachers, led by Debbie Foley, are part of this exciting career pathway for students at Oceanside High School.
The Health Academy is a three-year program that begins in tenth grade. Some of the curriculum includes classroom presentations, health/science fairs, on-site blood drives, as well as a Health Occupations Students of America campus chapter. OHS received their award at a luncheon on Monday, March 6.
