Mosaic in 3D–Introduction to Mosaic Sculpture: NEW
All levels are welcome. We will explore preliminary mosaic sculpture techniques by working with three dimensional forms in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Students will complete three projects for home, office or garden. More advanced students may choose to do their own project with individual guidance from instructor. Fee: $129. Supplies: A $50 material fee will be collected in class. Students may choose to purchase additional materials and/or bring their own tools from home. Pattern Making and Sewing
Make perfect fitting patterns for bodice, sleeves, skirt and pants! Learn the art of taking measurements, pattern drafting (using templates in your size provided by the instructor), fitting, grading, and sewing of the test garment. Enjoy learning how design can showcase your unique, beautiful body shape. Fee: $110. Supplies: Sewing machines are not required. Bring a sack lunch. Drawing Animals
All experience levels welcome, especially the enthusiastic beginner! Let’s draw animals—from decoratively filled silhouettes to realistic head studies and expressive gesture drawings. Learn to render eyes, fur and feathers using pencil media, watercolor pencils, pen and ink. Working from photos, lessons will include freehand methods and the realistic artist’s use of tools, such as grids and proportional dividers. Fee: $99. Learn to Draw Fabulous Figures Without a Model: NEW
All experience levels welcome. Want to draw a figure for your family, your work colleagues or your kids? Learn how to draw the human figure easily, without the expense of a model. Invent figures with the “Secrets of the Old Masters.” Even Michelangelo did not use models hovering in the air to paint the Sistine Chapel. He invented them and so will you! Learn Michelangelo’s secrets of anatomy and his original technique in this fast, fun and informative class. You will learn to simplify the form and basic anatomy from a long-time professional artist. Watercolor Portrait Painting
Learn how to capture the most essential qualities of a portrait. Gain technical mastery and intuitive understanding of the human face. This class will teach students watercolor techniques, line, form, contour, composition and proportions of the head, as well as the proper use of materials. Students will learn how to paint each feature on the face through demonstrations and exercises designed to advance your painting skills. Fee: $120. Watercolor and More–Mature Adult
All skill levels are welcome, even first timers. Would you like to paint with confidence by learning extremely fun and easy techniques to achieve quality results? Are you looking for a way to reduce stress and have a relaxing and creative experience in a supportive group? Then this is the class for YOU! Individual attention will be given to each student. You will be delighted with your successful paintings! Fee: $79. Location: La Colonia Park, Recreation Room. Time Options:

Painting Techniques and Aesthetics
If you are interested in learning more about painting in oil and acrylic, this class is for you! New students, as well as seasoned painters, will benefit from learning about painting supplies, color mixing, composition, values and techniques including brushstroke, dry brush, glazing and more through demonstrations, as well as hands on practice. Supplies: A material list will be sent prior to the start of class. Fee: $187. Location: Fletcher Cove, Community Center. 7 Thursdays, 2/1–3/15, 10:30 AM–1:30 PM.
Painting at the Beach
This class is for all levels of painters, beginner to advanced. Paint in oil or acrylic. Class includes discussion, demonstrations and instruction. Topics covered include color mixing, brushstroke technique, values, perspective and composition. Each class ends with a critique designed to help evaluate how students are progressing in a friendly, nurturing atmosphere. Enjoy the ocean views and paint outside if you like! Fee: $188. Oil Painting
This is a class for new or experienced students with good drawing skills. The class emphasis changes each semester, so there is a continual learning of new skills. The goal is to better understand value, shape and color, and how to use them to create a harmonious painting. There will be a mix of painting with the class on a project and working independently. By the end of this course, you will have some finished paintings to proudly display in your home! Build the foundation you need to create great works of art. Note: Must have previous experience in drawing or strong drawing skills. Fee: $99. Supplies: A $5 material fee will be collected in class. A materials list will be sent prior to the start of class. Acting–Lights, Action and Sound
Monty Silverstone, father of Alicia Silverstone, will teach budding and experienced actors monologues, scene study, cold reading and improvisation.
