Oceanside CA— MiraCosta College Community Education is offering the following language, recreation, and personal well-being, not-for-credit, courses this spring:
Spanish 1A–for Mature Adults. This is a beginning Spanish class. This course is designed for those with little or no knowledge of Spanish. Class will include grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and culture, as well as reading, writing, and conversation through dialogues, stories and role playing. Extra credit is given to those who keep the laughs flowing. Please join us! Fee: $129. Supplies: Students must purchase Spanish is Fun Book 1–4th edition by Heywood Wald (ISBN: 978-1- 56765-815-6). Spanish 1C–for Mature Adults. This is the next step after Spanish 1B. Practice, pronunciation and vocabulary are emphasized in this class. This course will promote conversation by activity dialogues that deal with daily life. Your vocabulary will improve and you will feel more confident speaking Spanish. You will learn many useful new verbs. Fee: $129. Supplies: Students must purchase Spanish is Fun Book 1–4th edition by Heywood Wald (ISBN: 978-1- 56765-815-6). Available at amazon.com Location: San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Ave., Cardiff, Room 202 Time: 8 Wednesdays, 1/31–3/21, 9:30–11:30 AM.
Retirement Planning: It takes more than money to live a “rich life.” This course blends financial education with life planning to help you build wealth, align your money with your values and achieve your retirement lifestyle goals. In just two entertaining and informative sessions, you’ll learn what they didn’t teach you in school. Fee: $60—bring your spouse for free! Supplies: This course includes a 235-page illustrated book offered at multiple locations for your convenience. Location: Carlsbad Senior Center, Art Studio Time: 2 Saturdays, 1/27 & 2/3, 9 AM–12 PM. OR Location: La Costa Canyon High School, Room 1301 Time: 2 Thursdays, 1/25 & 2/1, 6–9 PM.
Golf–Women’s Beginner. This class is for ladies who are interested in learning about the game of golf in a relaxed group atmosphere. We will cover all the basics, including the swing, etiquette and rules, so you will feel comfortable going to the driving range or course to play with friends or colleagues. Enjoy the outdoors, fresh air, make new friends and learn a game that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Everything will be provided; just bring yourself and be ready to have some fun. Fee: $89. Supplies: A $50 material fee will be collected in class for weekly range balls and golf course fee. Location: Encinitas Ranch Golf Course. Time Options: 8 Tuesdays, 1/30–3/20, 9:45–10:45 AM.
