Oceanside CA— MiraCosta College will be hosting a Careers in Art program on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 on the Oceanside campus. The program is called “Multifaceted look into careers in art: Case studies from Koumi Machi Kougen Museum and Shiga Highlands Museum,” and will feature panel presentations with a Q&A discussion.
This panel discussion features artwork from a 2017 exhibition entitled “Art Rally Koumi,” as well as an upcoming exhibit at the Shiga Highlands Museum. The exhibit will be used as a case study to highlight the personnel required to bring together a major international exhibition. The panelists who participated in the project will discuss their experiences and how their role relates to the different career paths in art, including curatorial practices, logistics, business practices, art making, internships, residencies, and other topics related putting on an exhibition. The seven-person panel will be moderated by MiraCosta College’s Art Department Chair, Yoshimi Hayashi.
The program begins at 1:15 p.m. on February 14 in the John MacDonald Board Room (OC1068) with registration and a reception. Panel presentations will begin at 1:30 p.m. and conclude with Q&A with the panelists. At 2:15 p.m. internship information will be presented with an introduction of community partners and time to network. The program will conclude around 3 p.m.
