San Diego County Credit Union’s Biz Kid$ Program: San Diego County Credit Union will present the SDCCU® Biz Kid$ Program, a resource for teachers to help teach their students about money and business. SDCCU launched the program in partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education and the County of San Diego, in support of Live Well San Diego, in 2015. Biz Kid$ is an award-winning, comprehensive financial literacy program focused on teaching kids how to use credit wisely and about the importance of saving, budgeting, investing and giving back to their communities. The Biz Kid$ program and all episodes are based on national standards for financial literacy and entrepreneurship education, and have been mapped to individual state standards. SDCCU will be offering teachers a chance to enter-to-win a complete program at the event.

Educational programs in science, technology, engineering, the arts and math (STEAM) are a natural fit with their business. One of the main missions of the STEAM program and Learning Lab is to support and inspire under-resourced students to become the next generation of scientific leaders, This facility provides students and teachers the opportunity to learn from Vertex scientists and explore cutting-edge technologies in the onsite Learning Lab. The lab has capacity for up to 30 students and the program consists of 4 hours on site. They offer a list of experiments to choose from for schools that visit the site. During the visit students and teachers have an opportunity to establish lab and scientific inquiry skills that can be applied to real life scenarios. Come and explore the learning lab and learn about the resources they have to engage students in science. Vertex recognizes that supporting teachers and encouraging their continued professional development is vital to student achievement and success.
