San Diego CA— In response to the just-released, inaccurate Golden Door Spa-funded advertisement and misinformation campaign about Measure B, San Diego County affordable housing advocates, community activists and public safety officials called on the luxury spa owners to stop misleading San Diego County voters at a press conference Friday morning.
Advocates from Pastors on Point, The Chicano Federation, Casa Familiar, CALFIRE Firefighters and the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County, among others, attended the press conference and signed a letter calling on the owners of the Golden Door Spa, the backers and funders of the No on B campaign, to stop the misinformation campaign and false advertisements.
Yes on B, which will appear on the March 3, 2020 ballot, asks voters to affirm the San Diego County Board of Supervisors’ unanimous approval of a plan to create affordably-priced homes and preserve open space on privately-owned land in northern San Diego County, instead of the previous General Plan designation permitting up to 2 million square feet of retail and office and 99 estate home lots. The creation of affordably priced housing for working families through the approval of Measure B is guaranteed through a legally-binding covenant placed on the deed of the property.
The Yes on B campaign released a letter to local television stations to cease and desist from showing the Golden Door Spa-funded advertisement because it contains significant misinformation and will confuse voters. The Yes on B campaign also released its first television ad this week to educate voters about the better choice of creating housing versus another commercial center development on this land.
