Along with with Fuji’s factory nightscape attractions, visitors partake in Fuji’s local soul foods like soup spaghetti Napolitana. The dish is prepared by soaking spaghetti in a specially blended tomato sauce, chicken stock and consommé made with natural water from Mt. Fuji. Local people call it “Tuke Napolitana”. It is served with fresh Sakura shrimp, a slice of roasted chicken, mushroom, and cheese on top. Enjoy it like the locals, with chop-sticks.
“Tuke Napolitana” is just one of the fast foods that is a local specialty with unique ingredients. Casual fast foods are being used as a signature dishes in conjunction with promotional activities throughout cities in Japan. It is often referred to as “B-grade gourmet”, B representing “brand”.
For instance; the neighboring city of Fujinomiya has fried noodles, called Yakisoba. Hamamatsu city is famous for a fried dumpling, called Gyoza. Be sure to try “Tuke Napolitana” when you come to Fuji-city.
