Oceanside CA- Oceanside with the aid of Carlsbad Firefighters extinguished a fire in a duplex at 3221 Coral Rd. in Oceanside, Saturday night. Flames from the blaze were shooting 30-40 feet in the air, according to an Oceanside Police officer responding to the blaze, and could be seen from as far as, Carlsbad and while driving on Hwy. 78.
Sheena Walczyk, who resides in the second unit of the duplex was having her birthday party when the fire broke out. “We saw the smoke, got out and met our neighbors in the front yard” said Walczyk. “There was a loud pop, like an electrical pop and then a lot of smoke. The fire got so big, so fast. I am thankful we all got out safely” she continued. It’s all just things in there, we can’t replace the people. We can get new things.” No residents were injured in the incident.
Firefighters were able to protect neighboring structures. Walcyzk’s unit was largely spared but the residence where the fire started sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. No word on the cost estimate of the damage is currently available
