Oceanside CA- Lashauna Blanks was sentenced to eleven years in prison after pleading guilty in the stabbing death of her cousin on December 5, 2012, in Oceanside.
Police were called to the home in the 400 block of Los Arbiltitos around 7:45pm, where 35-year-old, Las Vegas resident and father of four, Jerry Faulkner was found suffering from stab wounds on the lawn in front the home. Emergency crews and the victims sister performed CPR on Faulkner, who was transported to Palomar Hospital where he later died.
Blanks, a 25-year-old, mother of two from Memphis, Tennessee, was originally charged with first-degree murder and held on a 5 million dollar bond, in the death of her cousin. She pleaded guilty, in July, to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced on Monday at the Courthouse, in Vista. The stabbing occurred when Faulkner tried to break up a fight between Blanks and his girlfriend outside a large family gathering at the home of Faulkner’s mother.
