Harbor Police, Coast Guard Search for Missing Boater off Oceanside Coast-update

Update: The 21′ striper fishing boat belonging to the missing 53-year-old Oceanside man identified as, Loren James Rudeness, was found doing circles 10 miles off the coast of La Jolla. Authorities are working on a plan to safely board the vessel but may have to wait for the boat to run out of fuel. The boat was spotted shortly after the air portion of the search resumed at day-break around 6:30.
Oceanside CA- Oceanside Harbor Police along with the U.S. Coast Guard are looking for a man after he did not return home from a trip on his fishing boat named “Lucky Dog.”
A dog belonging to the boat owner was found on the beach just north of the Oceanside Pier. The dog appeared to have swam from the ocean to the shore. After a call to the number on the dog’s tag , the person who found the dog spoke to the man’s wife. The wife then called Oceanside Harbor Police to report her husband missing around 5:30 p.m.
The Coast Guard joined the search at about 9 p.m with a helicopter, crew and the cutter Edisto.
Oceanside Police. Sergeant, Jeff Brandt said the Department will coordinate with the Coast Guard at day break as the search continues for the boater.
The current world record for a dog swimming in controlled conditions is 4 miles for 73 minutes.
Sgt. Brandt said the disappearance is baffling as is the appearance of the dog on the beach.
