Oceanside CA- Amtrak is adding six trains to supplement the Coaster Train beginning October 7. The three northbound trains will leave San Diego’s Santa Fe Depot at 8:24 a.m., 10:42 a.m., and 9:05 p.m. The three southbound trains will leave Oceanside Transit Center at 7:03 p.m., 9:19 p.m., and 11:52 p.m. No additional charge to ride these trains. All valid Coaster fare media will be accepted on board these select Pacific Surfliners. An agreement between North County Transit District and Amtrak/Caltrans, the 6 select trains will stop at all 8 Coaster stations.
One difference when taking the Amtrak train and the Coaster will be bringing along your bike. You will need a reservation for transport of your bicycle. Coaster tickets are not valid for reserving or transporting bicycles on Pacific Surfliner trains. The purchase of an Amtrak ticket is required to secure a bicycle reservation.
