Oceanside CA- A man who was shot and killed after a high speed chase in Los Angeles has been identified, by police there, as Bryan Newt Beaird, 51, of Oceanside. Beaird was driving his late model silver Corvette at high speeds while trying to elude Los Angeles police when he collided with another vehicle and a fire hydrant at an intersection. When Beaird exited his vehicle police opened fire, hitting Beaird several times. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The chase was originally initiated by Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies who backed off while the department helicopter followed Beaird. LAPD took over the chase when it entered LA city limits. Beaird, was being pursued for reckless driving and possible DUI, according to sheriff’s officials.
