Solana Beach CA- San Diego County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call to assist the Solana Beach Fire Department with a smell of smoke coming from the adjacent apartment to the reporting party. Upon arrival deputies observed smoke coming from the roof vent of the apartment building at 833 South Cedros Ave.
Deputies assisted the fire department with breaching the locked apartment door. While the fire department evaluated the residence, deputies began evacuations and evacuated six apartments. Fire fighters located a male victim inside the apartment with obvious burn injuries of his upper extremities.
Paramedics began CPR and later transported him to UCSD Burn Center with serious burns, covering 50% of his body. Sheriff’s Bomb Arson was requested and is conducting the fire investigation.
