Oceanside CA- The Mission Branch Library, 3861-B Mission Avenue, reopened today with a fresh new, open look. The Mission branch was closed for the month of March while workers installed new carpet tile, paint and shelves. The library has a new, child friendly, kids area plus a Teens Corner at the rear of the library with chrome tables, tractor seats and beanbag chairs. The new computer area is less cluttered and more user friendly.
“It went really well” said CJ Di Mento, Mission Branch Manager speaking of the refreshing of the library, “We used all Oceanside contractors and we were on time and under budget.”
The new carpet consists of carpet tile. “If something happens to the carpet, we just have to pull and replace one tile. ” DiMento said. Money for the improvements was made available, this year, due to several librarian retirements.
The book shelves near the front of the library are shorter letting more light get to the lower portion of the bookcases. ” It still needs a little touch up but it will be better once I know how they rearranged things” said a visitor at the opening reception.
A large mural is planned for the west side, interior wall. The mural will be comprised of artwork from kids and adults who frequent the library.
The Mission Branch Library has been open 14 years with over a half a million visitors. Hours for the branch are;
Monday & Tuesday: 10-7
Wednesday – Friday: 10-6
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: 1-5
