San Marcos CA– On Friday, April 18, 2014, from 8:00 pm, to Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 2:00 am, sheriff’s deputies and officers from Cal State San Marcos Police Department, Escondido Police Department, Palomar College Police Department, San Diego County Probation Department, San Diego Police Department, and San Diego Sheriff’s Department, part of the AVOID the 16 Taskforce, conducted a DUI sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint in the 1300 block of West San Marcos Blvd, in the City of San Marcos.
3271 vehicles passed through the checkpoint with 768 drivers being screened and 33 vehicles sent to secondary. Ten drivers were evaluated for being under the influence and four drivers were arrested for DUI -Alcohol and one driver was arrest for DUI-Drugs. There were three cites for driving on a suspended driver’s license, ten cites for drivers not having a driver’s license, one cite for an open container in a vehicle and four additional cites for other violations. A total of six vehicles were towed.
