Oceanside CA- Here are some happenings going on in Oceanside for this, April the 12th, weekend and beyond including something for our four legged friends.
Give your dog or cat a leg up on wellness
The 1st annual Seaside Pet Clinic will take place in the St Mary, Star of the Sea school parking lot at Wisconsin and Ditmar. There will be an on site vet, free goodie bags (while supplies last) $10.00 microchip, which includes registration and a free scan of existing chips for readability. Low cost vaccines and low cost nail trims will also be available. The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA will offer on-site pet adoptions during the 2 hour duration of the event 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday the 12th. The event is organized by the Oceanside Coastal Neighborhood Association
Author Beverly Cleary’s Birthday Celebration
The Oceanside Public Library invites families and children of all ages to celebrate American author Beverly Cleary’s birthday Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms, 330 North Coast Highway. We’ll read stories, watch a movie, and make crafts. Cake and refreshments will be served.
Beverly Cleary’s birthday offers the chance for both young and old to share in the joy of reading and participate in D.E.A.R – Drop Everything and Read, a month long celebration where we drop things like chores and errands and read books instead! This is a traditional family oriented carnival including rides, games, and food booths. Sponsored by the Oceanside Jaycee’s. 1:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday in the vacant lot next to the DMV
Art Exhibit Reception
Mega Exhibition Reception for Icons of Desire: Jean Wells, Solo Exhibition: Kenneth Capps, DNA of Creativity, and Rank n’ File: John Daniel Abel. Free for OMA members, $10 for non-members. A Sunday Afternoon of French Art Songs
Diane Elias, Mezzo-Soprano, will be performing the works of Debussey, Hahn, Duparc and Faurè. She will be accompanied by pianist, Kathlyn Grabenstein. Sunday at 2:00 p.m., The Brooks Theatre- 217 North Coast Highway. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. for complimentary wine and cheese reception. April MainStreet Mixer
Join the City of Oceanside, MainStreet Oceanside, and other local organizations as they celebrate Earth Day at the April MainStreet Mixer on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at SpringHill Suites by Marriott at 110 North Myers Street in Oceanside. The event will be held on the outdoor ocean view terrace of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified hotel. Music and food are courtesy of Hello Betty Fish House, and a no-host bar will be provided while learning more about Oceanside’s future Green Business Certification program. Businesses that are already taking a lead on sustainability and the Green Oceanside movement will be recognized. Keeping with the Earth Day theme, The Hill Street Country Club and Succulent Café will have beautiful pieces of eco-friendly artwork on display.
