$15 Combo Ticket Offers Fairgoers Big Savings On Admission and Parking
Riding the COASTER to the San Diego County Fair means fairgoers can skip the traffic and avoid the stress of parking, all while saving money.
North County Transit District and the San Diego County Fair are once again selling ‘Fair Tripper’ combo tickets for just $15. The ‘Fair Tripper’ includes roundtrip travel on COASTER trains, SPRINTER light rail, and BREEZE buses, and admission to the Fair – a 40% savings on general admission and full COASTER fare. Free shuttles will transport passengers to and from the Solana Beach COASTER station – the station closest to the fairgrounds – to the Fair.
The ‘Fair Tripper’ will be available every day the Fair is open. Customers can purchase ‘Fair Tripper’ tickets several ways. Beginning Wednesday, May 14, fairgoers may buy them through NCTD’s online sales portal and mobile app. When the Fair opens on June 7, same-day tickets will be available at ticket vending machines by selecting ‘current promotions’ and at NCTD Customer Service Centers. The Fair runs most days June 7 through July 6; exact dates are available here [Link].
This year the ‘Fair Tripper’ is also valid on the six select Amtrak trains which serve all eight COASTER stations, giving fairgoers more late night options.
Fairgoers coming from south or east San Diego County also may take advantage of the ‘Fair Tripper’ savings. Passengers may park for free at the Old Town Transit Center and ride the COASTER to Solana Beach. They may also purchase a $5 Region Day Pass and ride MTS Trolley or bus to Santa Fe Depot or Old Town, and then take the COASTER north to Solana Beach.
Fairgoers who will be attending the beer and wine festivals are encouraged to let the COASTER be their designated driver by purchasing special ticket packages at SDFair.com which include the ‘Fair Tripper.’
During the Fair, NCTD will also operate special BREEZE Route 408, which offers service from the Escondido Transit Center to the fairgrounds every day the Fair is open.
In addition to these transit options, the Fair offers a $3.50 discount on admission to any fairgoer who presents a valid, same-day transit ticket, excluding ‘Fair Tripper’ tickets. Complete schedule and ‘Fair Tripper’ information is available at GoNCTD.com.
