San Marcos CA– Early this morning, July 27, 2014 at approximately 0120 hours, a motorcyclist traveling on Las Flores Dr. was struck by a vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, that was traveling westbound on S. Santa Fe Ave. The motorcyclist was ejected off the motorcycle and continued in a southwesterly direction coming to a stop against the south curb of S. Santa Fe Ave. The motorcycle also continued in a southwesterly direction coming to an uncontrolled point of rest on the right shoulder of S. Santa Fe Ave.
The San Marcos Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist, a thirty year old male, deceased. The driver of the Toyota continued westbound on S. Santa Fe Ave fleeing the scene of the collision. He was later located at the intersection of Bosstick Blvd and S. Santa Fe Ave. He was later arrested for Felony Hit and Run, 20001(a) CVC, Gross Vehicular Manslaughter, 191.5 PC and Felony Driving under the Influence, 23153(a) CVC.
The San Marcos Traffic Division is currently investigating this collision and is seeking anyone who may have been in the area of S. Santa Fe Ave and Las Flores Dr. on 07/27/14 around 1:20 am, who may have seen or has information about this collision, to contact the San Marcos Traffic Division at (760) 510-5042.
