FBI looking for Escondido Bank Robber Dubbed “The Satchel Bandit”

Escondido CA– The FBI is seeking information on the identity and whereabouts of a bank robber nicknamed “the Satchel Bandit”. The Satchel Bandit robbed two banks in California on separate days in August 2013. The first robbery took place in Northern California at Union Bank at 437 Old Mammoth Road in Mammoth Lakes, California. The second robbery took place in Southern California at a Union Bank at 303 West Grand Avenue in Escondido, California.
During the August 2, 2013 robbery in Mammoth Lakes, California, the Satchel Bandit presented a note to the teller demanding cash. After receiving money, he left the bank in an unknown direction.
On August 23, 2013, the Satchel Bandit attempted to rob another Union Bank in Escondido, California. The robber wore similar clothing and used a similar method during the attempted robbery by presenting a note to the teller demanding cash. After the attempted robbery, the suspect left the bank in an unknown direction.

Witnesses described the Satchel Bandit as a white male, with gray or white hair, between the ages of 50-70 years old. He was approximately 5’8” to 6’0” tall and weighed between 150 and 180 pounds. In both robberies, the Satchel Bandit wore a similar light green baseball cap and a checkered shirt with either light tan or light olive pants. He did not attempt to hide his face. He was also carrying a tan or brown leather travel bag in both robberies.
